O2 Estrena offers smartphone renewals after 24 months
O2 has launched Estrena for customers with convergent O2 plans, offering access to selected high-end smartphones and an optional renewal after 24 months.

O2 has launched O2 Estrena, a smartphone renewal service for customers with a convergent O2 plan. Eligible customers can access selected high-end smartphones and renew their device after 24 months. O2 announced the service on September 14, 2026.
How O2 Estrena works
Customers with a convergent O2 plan can subscribe to devices included in the O2 Estrena catalogue. The current selection includes the iPhone 18 Pro alongside other high-end smartphones. O2 has not provided the complete catalogue, so the availability of any particular model beyond the stated selection depends on the devices included in its offer.
Once 24 months have passed, O2 tells the customer that a renewal is available. The customer can then choose another device from O2’s portfolio and move to the monthly payment attached to that new smartphone. The renewal comes without a switching penalty, but the replacement phone still carries its own monthly charge.
This makes the offer different from an open-ended exchange programme. The renewal window is tied to the 24-month point, the choice is limited to O2’s portfolio, and the cost depends on the device selected. Customers therefore receive a defined route to a new phone, rather than the ability to change any handset at any time.
O2 handles the device handover
O2 arranges collection of the old smartphone when it is in working condition and organises delivery of the replacement. Customers can use the new device immediately after receiving it. The process removes the need to arrange collection and delivery independently, which is the main practical change for subscribers who choose to renew.
The working-condition requirement also sets a limit on that convenience. The announcement does not provide further details about how the condition of a device will be assessed or what happens when a phone does not meet that requirement. Those terms remain relevant to the handover, but they are not specified in the launch information.
Renewal remains optional
Customers who keep their current smartphone can continue using it normally and retain the conditions of their existing contract. They do not have to take a replacement device or accept the monthly payment attached to a new model.
O2 also states that all of its devices come with a four-year warranty. That warranty statement applies to O2’s devices, while the announcement does not set out additional model-specific terms for Estrena. It also leaves the full device list and other renewal conditions unspecified.
What changes for eligible customers
O2 Estrena changes the timing and logistics of a smartphone upgrade for customers already using a convergent O2 plan. After two years, they can be offered a new device from O2’s catalogue, with collection of the old phone and delivery of the replacement handled as part of the process.
The trade-off is the monthly payment for the selected replacement and the limited choice available through O2’s catalogue. Customers who do not renew keep their existing arrangement, while those who do will need to weigh the available model and its monthly charge when O2 confirms that renewal is available.
