Snapchat Plans Brings Private Meetups Into Chats With RSVPs and Reminders
Snapchat Plans lets friends create private meetups, manage responses, keep event details together and receive reminders without leaving Snapchat.
Snapchat has announced Snapchat Plans, a new way to create, share and manage real-world meetups with friends inside Snapchat. Announced on September 10, 2026, the feature lets users invite mutual friends and keep the event’s date, time and participant list in one place.
Creating a plan stays part of the conversation
When creating a Snapchat Plan, the host can add a title, choose a date and time, invite up to 200 friends and personalize the event with a dynamic Bitmoji cover. Each invitation is sent directly to the invited person in an individual conversation, so the invitation arrives alongside the existing exchange instead of requiring a separate event-planning service.
Guests can respond with “Going,” “Maybe” or “Can’t Go,” and they can change their answer at any time. Hosts can view the participant list, invite additional friends and edit the plan’s details. Snapchat also sends guests a reminder one hour before the event starts, covering a practical detail that can otherwise get lost in a busy conversation.

The details remain available after the invitation
Snapchat says a recent survey found that 35% of its U.S. users aged 13 to 24 use group chats to plan outings and organize events. Snapchat Plans gives that behavior a dedicated record rather than leaving the arrangements spread across messages.
The My Plans section on a profile shows current, upcoming and past plans. On a friendship profile, Our Plans displays events shared with a particular friend. The date, time, participant list and RSVP status therefore remain attached to the plan as the conversation continues, instead of existing only in the original messages.
Guests can also see the full participant list before changing their response. That gives them more context about who is included, while hosts retain control over invitations and changes to the event details.
Access is limited to invited friends
Snapchat Plans are private and available only by invitation. The announcement gives no indication of a public event-discovery layer, so the feature is focused on coordinating existing friendships rather than broadcasting meetups to a wider audience. Participation stays limited to invited users, which means the host is responsible for adding everyone who needs access.
Snapchat plans to let users create events directly inside a conversation soon, but the announcement does not provide a date for that addition. Until then, users must create the plan through the feature and share it with the intended friends.
For now, Snapchat Plans adds a central place for private invitations, responses, event details and reminders while keeping access under the host’s control. The feature is available by invitation, and Snapchat has not announced a date for a wider rollout or for creating plans directly inside a conversation.
