TikTok Shop broadens its European push across four more markets
TikTok Shop has expanded into Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands and Poland, bringing in-feed shopping, livestream commerce and creator-led product discovery to four additional European markets.

TikTok is extending its European shopping operation beyond its original markets, adding Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands and Poland to TikTok Shop. The company announced the expansion on May 28, with availability for shoppers and retailers scheduled from June 15. The rollout gives TikTok a larger role in the mobile buying journey, moving users from short-form video discovery to product browsing and checkout without leaving the app.
According to TikTok's official announcement, the four countries join France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom. The company describes the model as discovery commerce: products appear alongside the entertainment users are already watching, rather than being found through a conventional search-first shopping site.
Shopping moves closer to the For You feed
The expansion is built around the same mobile behaviours that made TikTok a major discovery platform. Sellers can attach products to ordinary in-feed videos and livestreams, allowing viewers to open a product page while watching. TikTok says this format is intended to connect local businesses, creators and larger brands directly with consumers who may not have been searching for a particular item when they opened the app.
That distinction matters because the app is not simply adding another marketplace tab. It is placing commerce inside an entertainment feed where recommendations, demonstrations and creator commentary can influence what users notice. For brands, the attraction is the possibility of converting attention into a transaction in the same session. For shoppers, the experience may feel more like browsing a stream of recommendations than visiting a traditional catalogue.
What TikTok Shop adds for sellers
TikTok says more than 100,000 European businesses had joined TikTok Shop across France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Ireland since the service began launching in the European Union in late 2024 and early 2025. The company also reported triple-digit growth in daily gross merchandise value across those markets between August 2025 and February 2026. Those figures are TikTok's own business metrics, rather than an independently audited market comparison.
The company is also expanding tools designed to make cross-border selling easier. Shortly after the initial launch in the new markets, sellers are expected to be able to use Sell Across Europe to localise product descriptions and ship orders into other EU countries through TikTok Shop logistics partners or approved carriers. Approved creators can participate in TikTok's affiliate network and earn commissions when their content drives sales.
Livestream shopping is another central part of the proposition. TikTok presents live sessions as a way for sellers to demonstrate products, answer questions, recommend related items and collect immediate feedback. That makes the livestream both a sales channel and a source of informal product research, although the quality of advice will still depend on the seller or creator presenting it.
A more complete in-app buying journey
For shoppers in the new markets, TikTok lists several parts of the experience. Tagged products can appear in videos and LIVE content, while a Product Showcase lets people browse product tiles, reviews and collections from a brand profile. The company said a dedicated Shop tab would begin rolling out to users in the new European markets from July, giving customers one place to discover listings, manage orders and find promotions.
Checkout is handled through third-party payment platforms that TikTok describes as trusted providers. The announcement also points to product reviews, reporting tools and returns as parts of the buyer experience. These features should make the service more familiar to users of established marketplaces, but shoppers should still check the seller identity, delivery terms, return conditions and independent-looking reviews before paying. TikTok's description of secure checkout is a company statement, not the result of a test conducted for this article.
Why the rollout matters for mobile commerce
The expansion shows how social apps are competing to own more of the path between recommendation and purchase. TikTok says 200 million people across Europe use the platform every month for entertainment, inspiration and trend discovery. Turning even a small portion of that attention into shopping activity could give local merchants another route to customers, while giving TikTok more reasons to keep users inside its app.
It also raises practical questions about transparency. Product recommendations can be shaped by creators, affiliate relationships and algorithmic ranking, so users need to distinguish personal opinion from paid or commission-based promotion. Availability, product selection, delivery options and exact features may vary by country and account as the service continues to roll out. The European expansion is therefore best understood as a significant platform update, not a guarantee that every TikTok Shop feature will appear identically for every user.
For now, TikTok Shop's move into four additional European markets strengthens the app's position at the intersection of video, creators and commerce. The next test will be whether discovery-led shopping can build lasting trust and repeat purchases, rather than simply turning viral attention into short-lived transactions.
