vivo Y500 Launches in Indonesia with an 8,100mAh Battery
vivo has announced the Y500 in Indonesia, pairing a high-capacity battery with OriginOS 6 software, camera tools and a display designed for extended daily use.
vivo Indonesia announced the vivo Y500 on July 6, 2026, positioning the new Y-series smartphone around long battery life, mobile productivity and everyday content creation. The announcement targets users who rely on one phone for email, online meetings, document work, social media, video calls and entertainment.
The headline feature is an 8,100mAh battery, which vivo describes as the largest battery in its smartphone history. The company says the Y500 can play music for up to 85 hours, although that figure is a manufacturer claim rather than the result of an independent test. The phone also includes Battery Life Extender, a feature vivo says can keep calls running for up to 36 minutes when the battery reaches 1%, or up to four minutes at 0%.
Battery features focus on long-term use
vivo is also highlighting battery-management tools intended to reduce charging stress. The Y500 includes Bypass Charging 2.0, designed to help control temperature while the phone is being used during charging, along with Overnight Charging Protection. The latter adjusts the charging process after the battery reaches an optimal level when the device is left connected overnight.
The company further claims six years of battery health support. That statement describes vivo’s intended durability target, not a guarantee of identical capacity or performance for every user. As with any battery specification, actual results will depend on network conditions, screen brightness, applications, temperature and usage patterns.
A display built for work and entertainment
The Y500 uses a 1.5K AMOLED Borderless display with a 1.35mm ultra-slim bezel, according to vivo’s announcement. The company says the panel is intended to make video, gaming and social-media use more immersive while remaining practical for work-related tasks.
vivo also lists SGS Low Blue Light and SGS Five Star Sunlight-Readable Display certifications, as well as Anti-Fatigue Brightness Adjustment. These features are presented as comfort measures for extended viewing. They should not be interpreted as medical protection, and the announcement does not provide independent measurements of eye strain or viewing performance.
The phone has an 8.19mm body and is offered in Wave White and Ocean Blue finishes, with a camera module described by vivo as a Nebula Window design. Cameras and built-in AI tools
For photography and video calls, the Y500 combines a 32-megapixel wide selfie camera with a 50-megapixel Sony rear camera. vivo says the wider front camera is intended to make video calls and live streams clearer and more suitable for group framing. The rear camera is positioned for product photos, catalog images and social-media content.
The software package includes AI Erase 2.0, AI Ultra HD 2.0, AI Change Sky and AI Color Adjustment. These tools are designed to remove unwanted elements, improve image detail, alter skies and adjust color. Snap Up Engine is designed to speed up ticket ordering and payment workflows.
For privacy, vivo lists Private Space as a protected area for personal data. One Tap Transfer is described as a way to send documents, photos or videos by bringing two compatible devices close together. The announcement says the feature supports transfers between vivo devices and iOS devices, though the exact compatibility and regional availability should be checked before purchase.
Indonesia availability is the confirmed market
vivo’s announcement confirms the Y500 for Indonesia through official vivo sales channels. It refers to a July 1 to July 31, 2026 sales period, but it does not establish a global rollout or confirm availability in other markets.
